Hello World
So, I started a blog.
I honestly don’t know why I’m starting a blog in 2026.
It’s not like I’m expecting to make money from it, and I don’t exactly have anything exciting to share. Maybe growing up during the Xanga era has something to do with it. Back then, people had their own little corners of the internet where they wrote about their days, shared random thoughts, or complained about whatever was bothering them.
I kind of miss that.
There was something nice about being able to write whatever you wanted without worrying about followers, likes, engagement, or whether anyone would even read it. You didn’t need a niche, a personal brand, or a reason to post. You could just write about your day, even if absolutely nothing interesting happened.
The idea of starting this blog actually came to me during my 34th birthday dinner with my family. My brother has cancer and is currently in hospice care, and somewhere during dinner, I started thinking about how quickly life passes. For the first time, I found myself wondering how many birthdays I actually have left.
I guess being so close to someone who is nearing the end of their life makes you think about your own a little differently.
Lately, I’ve also realized how little I remember about my days. Most of my time has been spent helping take care of my brother while trying to keep up with work and everything else going on in my life. One day turns into another, and before I know it, another week has gone by.
I know I’ve been busy. I know I’ve been tired. But when I try to think back on what I actually did, I often can’t remember much.
And that bothers me.
Not because I expect every day to be special or exciting, but because these are still my days. They’re still parts of my life, even when nothing particularly interesting happens.
So maybe writing things down will help me remember them better.
I don’t really have a particular topic in mind for this blog. I might write about my travels, everyday life, things I bought that I probably didn’t need, or whatever happens to be on my mind. Some days I might have a lot to say, and other days probably not much at all.
Mostly, I just want somewhere to keep track of my life. Maybe years from now, I’ll come back to an old post and remember what I was doing, how I was feeling, or something small that I would have otherwise completely forgotten.
And who knows, maybe someone with a mind like mine will accidentally stumble upon this little corner of the internet and find something relatable.
I think, as humans, we naturally want to feel connected to others. We want to know that someone out there understands us, or that we’re not the only ones who think or feel a certain way. Maybe that’s a small part of why I want to put my thoughts out here instead of keeping them all to myself.
Anyway, I have no idea how often I’ll write or whether I’ll even stick with this.
But I figured I might as well give it a try.
Even if nobody reads it, at least I’ll have something to look back on.
